HRS4R EN CITMAga

The Galician Centre for Mathematical Research and Technology (CITMAga) is a consortium with its own legal entity of the three Galician public universities (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Universidade da Coruña and Universidade de Vigo), which have been HRS4R awarded since 2017.

CITMAga mission is to be a pillar of excellence in the ecosystem of innovation and research and mathematical technology of Galicia, attracting and retaining talent, with a strong commitment to knowledge transfer and giving society and industry a competitive and sustainable advantage through access to first-class innovative technologies.

The principles of the Code and the Charter, as well as those included in the OTM-R checklist were already considered since the creation of CITMAga in 2021 and the HRS4R culture has been embedded into the strategy and talent policies of the entity since its inception.

Actions prior to the application for accreditation:

  • Article 19 of the statutes states that the selection processes will be developed by applying the OTM-R principles.
  • The centre has a preliminary OTM-R policy, which will be fully defined in the framework of the HRS4R action plan.
  • CITMAga's first strategic plan, which covers the period 2022-2025, includes as a strategic principle ‘the implementation of a Talent policy aligned with HRS4R’. In this sense, the talent development and training measures already provide for their definition in line with the principles of the Code and the Charter.
  • At the operational level, the policies and procedures implemented since 2021 already include activities aligned with the guidelines set out in the Code and Charter and in the OTM-R checklist, as reflected in the GAP Analysis.

As proposed in Action 15 of CITMAga's strategic plan, the application for HRS4R accreditation was launched in October 2023 with the signing of the letter of endorsement to the principles of “The european charter for researchers” and “The code of conduct for the recruitment of researchers”. A process of reflection was then initiated, involving the governing team, the research staff and the management team, which culminated in the application for accreditation in September 2024. Once the consensus report has been received, the process is pending final approval after including the recommendations of the evaluation team.

Actions for the application for accreditation:

  • Signature of the letter of endorsement to the principles of the Charter & Code.
  • Communication to CITMAga staff of the start of the process and invitation to the participatory process.
  • Development of the participatory process for the elaboration of the Gap Analysis, OTM-R-checklist and Action Plan.
  • Elaboration of the institutional documentation: Gap Analysis, OTM-R-checklist and Action Plan.
  • Approval by the Governing Board of the HRS4R Action Plan for the accreditation process.
  • Review of the documentation to respond to the indications of the Consensus Report.

HRS4R institutional documentation:

Other institutional documentation of interest for the HRS4R process:

CITMAga's statutes, approved on 19 July 2021, regulate its organisation and operation. They establish the rules for its administration, the composition of its governing bodies and the rights and duties of its members.

  • OTM-R preliminary policy

As CITMAga is formed by three universities holding the HRS4R, OTM-R principles are followed for recruitment and selection. Indeed, a fully OTM-R policy will be developed during the action plan implementation. Currently the Code of Conduct for Recruitment establishes the guidelines to follow in the recruitment processes.

The CITMAga 2022-2025 strategic plan outlines the organization vision, mission, values, key objectives and actions with clear goals for the period. The plan provides a roadmap for growth and consolidation, ensuring that all actions align with its long term strategic goals.

The strategic goals for the period are:

    • Create a culture of the centre.
    • Organise the centre.
    • Develop multidisciplinary and competitive science of excellence.
    • Support the professional development of competent professionals.
    • Contribute to creating new generations of scientific personnel in Mathematics.
    • Contribute to solving the challenges of 21st century society.
    • To involve society in scientific advances.
