TITLE: 1 Predoctoral Training Contract within the Framework of the “Knowledge Generation Projects 2023” – REFERENCE: PID2023-146841OB-I00”.

OFFER REFERENCE: CITMAga-OT-06/2024.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 1 contract as a predoctoral researcher in training, within the framework of the project referenced PID2023-146841OB-I00 funded by the 2023 call for grants for “Knowledge Generation Projects” and actions for the training of predoctoral research personnel associated with these projects. This doctoral thesis will be carried out in collaboration with AIMEN, with stays at SISSA (Italy) and ENSAM (France).

ACTIVITIES TO BE DONE​​​​​​​: carrying out research tasks within the framework of the project “Development of numerical simulation tools for improving processes in additive manufacturing (DeNSiProAM)”.

FUNCTIONS TO BE PERFORMED: Conduct research to develop numerical simulation tools to improve processes in additive manufacturing. The main functions include developing and optimizing numerical models for thermal and thermomechanical simulation in LAM-DED processes (Laser Additive Manufacturing by Directed Energy Deposition), implementing model reduction techniques and applying artificial intelligence to enhance the precision and efficiency of simulations. The candidate will also collaborate in the experimental validation of these models and in the optimization of the manufacturing process parameters; in the dissemination and transfer of knowledge and research results obtained within the framework of the project.

CANDIDATE PROFILES​​​​​​​: Bachelor's degree, Engineers, Graduates or equivalents, and Masters in subjects related to mathematical modeling, numerical simulation of industrial processes, or related fields.

MERITS AND REQUIREMENTS TO ASSESS: Without prejudice to the Assessment Criteria set by the Call for the selection and evaluation process of research personnel in training associated with “Knowledge Projects 2023”, the following will be valued:

· General education and experience to be assessed (30 points, all contributions must be documented).

  • Academic record of the degree/bachelor's degree/engineering (10 points).
  • Master's record. The degree of affinity of the candidate's degrees with the areas of Industrial Mathematics (Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or similar) will be valued (10 points).
  • Mobility and internationalisation of research stays (5 points).
  • English language skills (5 points).

· ADDITIONAL AND SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO BE ASSESSED (40 points, all contributions must be documented).

  • Experience and familiarity with thermal, thermomechanical, and hydrodynamic modelling in industrial environments, including heat transfer, convection, radiation, and phase change (8 points).
  • Proven knowledge and experience in numerical simulation in industrial processes, specifically in additive manufacturing or LAM-DED, including the use of tools such as the Finite Element Method (FEM) (8 points).
  • Educational background and proven experience in modelling mathematical programming problems using programming languages such as Python, C, Fortran, etc. (8 points).
  • Proven knowledge and experience in integrating artificial intelligence techniques, especially neural networks, to improve calculation times while maintaining simulation accuracy (6 points).
  • Experience in implementing model reduction techniques (MOR - Model Order Reduction) to optimise simulation times (6 points).
  • Proven knowledge and experience in material characterisation (mainly plastic) and mechanical behaviour for the simulation of thermal and thermomechanical deformations (4 points).

· PERSONAL INTERVIEW (30 points).

Selected candidates based on the above criteria will be invited to a personal interview. At least the three candidates with the highest scores and who have achieved at least 40 points in the two previous sections will be interviewed.

 

General selection criterion​​​​​​​: that under equivalent conditions of suitability (equal merits) between two or more candidates, the position will be awarded to the person of the less represented gender in the type of position advertised.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES

To be admitted the applicants, in addition to fulfilling the specific requirements demanded in the activity or project for which they make their request indicated in the previous point, they must have on the day of completion of submission of applications and keep them until the expected date of completion of the contract, the following general requirements:

  • Be Spanish or national of any of the other Member States of the European Union or national of any state to which, by virtue of international treaties concluded by the European Union and ratified by Spain, the free movement of workers applies.
  • The spouse of Spaniards and nationals of one of the other Member States of the European Union may also participate, whatever their nationality, and when the corresponding treaty so provides, or of nationals of a state to which by virtue of the international treaties concluded by the European Union and ratified by Spain, the free movement of workers applies to them, provided they are not legally separated. Likewise, with the same conditions, their descendants and those of their spouse, under the age of twenty-one or older than that who live in their charge, may participate.
  • Likewise, nationals of countries that are not members of the European Union or that are not included in the scope of international treaties concluded by the European Union and ratified by Spain in which the free movement of workers is applicable may participate. However, the formalization of the employment contract with these nationals is conditioned to the applicants having granted the exception or work permit and legal residence in Spain. 
  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Being in possession of the valid degree in Spain that is indicated according to Spanish legislation.
  • Be in possession of the title and other requirements demanded in the call for each category at the end of the application period. o Not suffer any disease or be affected by physical or mental limitation that is incompatible with the performance of the corresponding functions.
  • Not to be separated, by means of a disciplinary file from the service of any of the public administrations, nor to be disabled for the performance of public functions.

 

CONDITIONS:

Gross anual salary​​​​​​​:

  • Gross monthly salary: 1.298,61 €

Start date expected: The start date of the selected person's contract will be within a maximum period of 3 months from the day after the publication on the state research agency's website of the grant resolution, and necessarily on the 1st day of the corresponding month (1) .

Type of contract: Predoctoral training contract.

Labor category: Research personnel in training.

Duration: no longer than 4 years, according to the terms and Annex 1 of the Call (2) .

Working hours​​​​​​​: full-time (35.0 hours per week).

The contract is part of the grant PID2023-146841OB-I00, funded by MCIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by FSE+.

EVALUATION COMMITTEE​​​​​​​: Candidate´s applications will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee. This Committee will be made up of the scientific head of the Project, who will chair it, the scientific members of the project research team assigned to CITMAga.

Once the application is received, its receipt will be confirmed by email. Candidates who are called to the interview phase must provide original documentation of the submitted merits.

DEADLINES AND RESOLUTION​​​​​​​:

  • Reception of applications: until November 17, 2024, at 23:59.
  • Evaluation of applications and conducting personal interviews: second half of November 2024.
  • Resolution of the call: last week of November 2024.

WAITING LIST: After the resolution of the call, the candidates who were not selected and meet the requirements established in the criteria of the call for positions, and respecting what is indicated in the call, may constitute a "waiting list" within the framework of this call. in order of merit and worth, as long as seventy points were reached. This “waiting list” will be made public on the same day as the resolution of the call, and will be in force for a period of 6 months. The Evaluation Commission of the call, if it deems it appropriate, may make use of the "waiting list", as long as any worker resigns or causes voluntary withdrawal within the framework of the contract and during the time established and in force for the contract “waiting list”.

CHARACTERISTICS OF CONTRACTS​​​​​​​: The personnel hired through this call will be dedicated exclusively to carrying out the activities of the project/activity that originates the call, so the duration of the contract is directly linked to the life of the specific project/activity, as well as well as the existence of specific financing derived from it. The contracts will be carried out under the contract modality due to production circumstances. The contemplated amounts may undergo variations established by the applicable regulations or due to unexpected causes not initially foreseen.

Those selected who are in possession of a foreign degree must submit, at the time of signing the contract, an application for of equivalence of the degree and the academic level required for the open call, in which they were selected, or the homologation in the case of degrees that enable a regulated profession, in accordance with Royal Decree 967/2014, November 21, which establishes the requirements and the procedure for the homologation and certificate of equivalence and official university academic ranking and the validation of foreign studies of higher education, and the procedure to determine the equivalent level in the Spanish framework of qualifications for higher education in official degrees of Architecture, Engineering, Technical Architecture, Technical Engineering and Diplomas.

The gross remuneration of contracts is specified for each case. The contract will also require the registration in the General Social Security Scheme. The amounts referred to may be subject to changes established by the regulations applicable to them or by unexpected causes not initially foreseen.

THE NATURE OF THE CONTRACT: The recruitment does not imply any commitment regarding the subsequent incorporation to the staff of the CITMAga.

SUBSIDIARY RESPONSABILITIES: People hired must maintain the confidentiality of the activity they carry out, as well as keep secrecy of all issues and issues inherent to it and of which they are aware.

INCOMPATIBILITIES: The contracts subject to the call are subject, as far as their incompatibility regime, to the provisions of Law 53/1984, of December 26, on incompatibilities of the Personnel in the Service of Public Administrations.
