Abstract:
This talk will be motivated by symmetry. On replacing the coordinate ring of the affine 2-space with the Weyl algebra, we encounter noncommutative geometry through invariants. Taking a step back, we are led to generalized Weyl algebras and a new class of representations which complement weight and Whittaker modules in Lie theory.
