Abstract:
In this talk, we'll cover some fundamentals on numerical methods used within the simulation software solutions of Transvalor S.A. FORGE(R) and THERCAST(R). Electrically driven or electromagnetically driven processes are integrated into industrial production lines in large scales as they enable better energy efficiency and control over process quality. Such processes imply an increased complexity from the physical perspectives as multi-physics considerations including Maxwell equations on top of energy and momentum conservations, metallurgy and phasetransformation, need to be considered. This talk will go through several practical examples showing how numerical simulation can be used in the industrial context to facilitate understanding and optimization of such scenarios.
