Abstract:

We study the complex conformal geometry of isotropic curves in the complex quadric Q3 ⊂ CP4. By an isotropic curve is meant a nonconstant holomorphic map from a Riemann surface into Q3 which is null with respect to the complex conformal structure of Q3. The main motivation comes from differential geometry of surfaces. In fact, the point of view of isotropic curves provides a unifying framework for a number of relevant classes of surfaces in Riemannian and Lorentzian space forms. This is joint work with Emilio Musso.
